01What AI summaries do

When you scan or upload a document, such as a lab result, Anido can:

  • read the text on it,
  • list the results exactly as printed, with units and reference ranges,
  • point out only what the document itself marks as high, low or out of range, and
  • explain it in plain words, in the elder's language.

Every sentence the AI writes carries an AI summary label. Notes written by people never do. A summary stays in "Needs review" until someone on the care team marks it as reviewed.

02What we send, and to whom

  • What: the document you add and the text read from it.
  • What we leave out: we don't attach the elder's profile details (such as name and birth date) to the request. The document itself may show the elder's name or other details printed on it, and that text is sent as part of the document.
  • To whom: our AI provider, Vercel AI Gateway (Vercel Inc.), which sends the request to Anthropic PBC (Claude), which processes it in the United States. It acts only on our instructions. It's listed at anidoapp.com/subprocessors.
  • No training: our contract doesn't let Vercel AI Gateway (Vercel Inc.), which sends the request to Anthropic PBC (Claude) use your documents to train its AI.
  • How long: Vercel AI Gateway (Vercel Inc.), which sends the request to Anthropic PBC (Claude) deletes the request within zero data retention: not stored after the summary is returned, except where the law requires otherwise or to prevent misuse, unless the law requires it to keep it longer. Anido keeps the summary while the care circle exists, and a record of what was sent and received for 12 months. If the organizer deletes the elder's information, that record is deleted with it, unless we must keep it for a legal claim.

Anido uses de-identified data to improve its own AI only if you turn on "Help improve Anido's AI". That is a separate choice, and it's off unless you turn it on.

03What the AI won't do

AI summaries are not medical advice. They:

  • never diagnose, suggest changing a dose or medication, predict what will happen, or compare the elder to other people;
  • never fill in parts of a page they couldn't read; they tell you to rescan instead;
  • only suggest three next steps: ask at the next visit, call the doctor, or save.

If the document marks a value as critical, Anido shows only a line asking you to call the elder's doctor today (for example, "Call Rosa's doctor today"), with the doctor's phone number, and nothing else.

AI can make mistakes. Always check the original document. Tap "View in original" to see where each value came from. Anido explains results in plain words. It doesn't replace the elder's doctor. See our Medical & Emergency Disclaimer.

04Your choice

AI summaries are off until you allow them. Your choice covers the documents you add.

  • Allow AI summaries: documents you add are summarized.
  • Not now: documents are still saved for the care team, without a summary.

You can change your mind at any time in Settings › Privacy & data › AI summaries. Turning it off stops new summaries. Summaries already made stay with the document until someone deletes the document.
